Dares was our 100% Czech Republic import that we purchased in 1999. Dares was the first Czech working dog to ever enter Australia with these impressive titled accomplishments. Dares had exceptional temperament, working abilities and was a true athlete with extreme drives. Dares was a powerful male with substantial bone and a strong head. Dares was also a known producer of working dogs and had many breeding’s with his progeny succeeding in ZM, ZVV, OP, Sch H, IPO, and service work. Some of Dares’ progeny are with the Queensland Correction Service, RAAF, IPO Sport, Home Property Protection and Service work and they make the ultimate loyal companion.
Dares z. Geradonu was the first Czech dog to compete to a National level in Australia and work the streets as my patrol dog. His sire Bob Hozmi carries the lines to some of the best Czech and East German (DDR) dogs like Bob Cega, Gita Salrak, Grischa v. Schwarzen Milan and Cliff v. Bleichfleck. His Dam Zina z. Ulicek carries some of the oldest and strongest sought after Czech bloodlines. Zina also competed to a Czech National level and is a top noted producer of working dogs.
I attended many policing seminars and dog sport seminars with Dares. This is what some of the following International guests had to say about Dares:
Sgt Donn Yarnall: “This dog has mega prey drive and mega fight drive, this dog is very well balanced, he is probably too good for here, I will take this dog back home”. “Dares possesses Pronounced Prey Drive and Pronounced Fight Drive. I saw no evidence of Defense Drive. To me that is a good thing. Dares’ Prey and Fight Drives are very balanced. I believe this dog could not be defeated in combat without significant luck.”
Stewart Hilliard: “This is a first class dog”.
Bernhard Flinks: “If anyone picks faults with this dog, they are stupid and know nothing about dogs”.
Lance Collins: “I like this dog, he has a lot of power”. “This dog is hard to the core.”
Jiri Novotny (Former head of z. PS breeding program) had to say to a fellow Australian dog enthusiast: “I should breed to Dares z Geradonu ASAP. His mother’s lines go back to the best old Czech bloodlines that are known to produce much anger.”
I do not know of many other dogs that have been put on the line and proven themselves time and time again in many seminars, trials and national events as Dares z Geradonu had.
